Slipknot are the first headline act announced for next year’s Download festival.
The US metal titans will play the main stage in the headline slot on Friday the 12th of June. They’ll follow legendary British band Judas Priest, whilst Black Stone Cherry will be closing first night on the second stage.
Says the ‘Knot frontman Corey Taylor: “Being invited back to Download always feels like coming home. Headlining for the third time feels like the culmination of a life’s dream – it’s an honour and we’re all looking forward to it.”
Judas Priest first played at Donington in its guise as Monsters Of Rock in 1980. Their first appearance at Download was in 2008. Said the band in a statement: “We’re thrilled to be performing at Download 2015 as the band continues its 40th anniversary Redeemer of Souls World Tour, bringing us home to hear the roar of our Priest family.”
Tickets for Download 2015 go on sale this Thursday 20th of November at 9am and are available via www.downloadfestival.co.uk
