Nashville based singer and songwriter Heidi Feek has released a video for her song “Trail Pop.”
Inspired equally by 007 as much as Sergio Leone, Feek recently told Rolling Stone Country: “I naturally [gravitate] towards anything that has to do with cowboys or James Bond. You really can’t go wrong with those two things.”
Feek is the daughter of traditional country duo Joey+Rory, so knows a little about forging a career in music. Extending the Spaghetti Western metaphor to breaking point, she continues: “Having grown up in the music industry, I’m pretty well aware of what musicians do and what it takes as an artist,” Feek says. “It’s a job; it’s a career, but it’s a love and a passion.… You’ve gotta take the good, the bad and the ugly.”
The song is set to appear on a new full length album, tentatively expected next year. And whilst Feek has few details to share as yet, she does hint that “Trail Pop” is a good indicator of what to expect: “I’m so close to the project, every song sounds different,” she says before adding, “I think [this is] a good introduction.”
