2018. It’s been a year. And a bumper year for new music at that. From the early days of January onward, the last 12 months have brought with them a veritable panoply of musical delights. So much so that I can’t remember a time when I so looked forward to each and every New Music Friday week by week, month by month. So much so that I’m not even going to try and make a claim that this list is somehow an objective “best of”, because I’m one hundred percent certain that I will have missed some absolutely belting new albums during our insignificant ball of rock’s last trip around the sun.
So no, rather than a Best Albums of 2018, the below represents my Favourite Albums of 2018, or what I’ll continue to refer to as Skin Back Alley’s Top Albums of 2018.
Each album entry is accompanied by links for you to click through, take a listen and discover more about each artist. After all, I think it far more valuable for you to listen to the music than to sit through paragraphs of my rusty writing detailing what I think about each album and why.
As ever, I warmly and sincerely hope you find some new music to love among the 110 albums I’ve listed below. I’d also be delighted to hear your own thoughts about the albums in question, along with your own suggestions for any music you think I’ve missed or that are your own favourites from the year gone by. Just click here to get in touch.
Right. I’ll leave you to explore. I’m off to listen to Yazz Ahmed’s brilliant album La Saboteuse that I somehow only managed to hear for the first time this past week. Told you…
