Sinéad O’Connor announces new album

Sinead OConnor 2014

Sinéad O’Connor has announced details of her new album.

Titled I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss, the album will be released via Nettwerk Records on the 11th of August this year.

It will be O’Connor’s first album release since 2011’s How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?

A full tracklisting has yet to be revealed, but a new single, “Take Me To Church”, is also scheduled for release on the 11th of August.

Posting a statement on her blog about the release, O’Connor explained how Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg’s “Ban Bossy” campaign inspired the album title.

“Originally, I had a different title, The Vishnu Room,” she writes. “But a few months back, when I saw the phrase I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss, and Sheryl Sandberg’s Ban Bossy campaign, I wished I could rename the album… It can be tricky being a female boss, and I think Sheryl’s campaign is a terribly important one.”

The album sleeve with it’s original title had already been printed, but having received new promo shots of O’Connor in a PVC dress and black wig, her record company requested that they be used instead, affording her the opportunity to change the title, too.
