Anthrax have released a video starring actor James Duval for their track “Blood Eagle Wings.”

The song features on the thrash legends’ new album, For All Kings, released last month.

Speaking in interview with Rolling Stone, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says: “I think it’s our masterpiece. It’s the biggest, coolest thing we’ve ever written.”

“Any great city, whether it’s London, Rome, Paris, New York, Los Angeles – these cities are alive because of how many people were killed to make them what they are. How much blood was spilled over time.”

The video’s director Jack Bennett says the clip “…serves this concept that progress is brutal. Civilisations progress in a way that is violent.”

You can watch the torture-themed clip below. Anthrax are currently on tour in South America with Iron Maiden as part of ‘Maiden’s current The Book Of Souls World Tour.

anthrax

Speaking with The Sick Room Podcast Ian says: “We felt strong enough about it to put it out there as the first thing anyone was going to hear new from us – but it barely scratches the surface.”

Worship Music was a great record,” he adds, “and I think we have an even better record coming. We’re working on lead guitar now.”

“Soror Irrumator” appeared on the recent Game Of Thrones Mixtape Vol.II album and you can listen to the track via the stream below:

Ian has previously described Anthrax’s new material as “very angry.”

Anthrax produce limited edition ‘Indians’ bourbon

anthrax

Anthrax have produced a limited edition bourbon whiskey named after one of their classic singles.

The US thrash legends have named the whiskey “Indians” after their 1987 song of the same name. It will only be available from the USA and is set to retail at $75 per bottle.

Says Anthrax bassist Frank Bello: “We’ve been wanting to come up with a special item like this, something that was unusual, one-of-a-kind, not a t-shirt or hoodie or poster. And Indians was perfect.”

The Jefferson Reserve Indians is available via the Atlantic City Bottle Company and each bottle comes with a signed stave of the barrel in which the whiskey was aged.

Indians is said to “taste like no other due to its particular blend and the barrel it was aged in.”

Meanwhile, Anthrax have received their sixth Grammy nomination this week. Their cover of Black Sabbath’s “Neon Knights”, recorded for the Dio tribute album Ronnie James Dio: This Is Your Life, has been nominated for Best Metal Performance.

Says drummer Charlie Benante: “It’s been an honour every time we’ve been nominated, but this one is particularly special. To have been asked to contribute Neon Knights to Ronnie’s tribute album was an honour on its own. To have it nominated for a Grammy is just beyond the best.”

New Anthrax album could be a double LP says Benante

Charlie Benante

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante has said that the band have enough new material to make their next album a double LP.

So inspired were the band by the reaction to their 2011 album, Worship Music, their creative juices have been flowing.

Speaking in interview with The Metal Voice, the sticksman said: “Some of the new music that’s been coming out for us has been so inspiring. I’ve been lucky enough to draw from the Worship Music experience and really build on that.”

“If that record was like Led Zeppelin IV, then this one is definitely gonna be like Physical Graffiti. The reason why I said that is because have such an abundance of songs. Physical Graffiti was a double record. We have enough material to have a double record at this point too.”

And he goes on to add that having frontman Joey Belladonna back in the band just feels right:

“It’s definitely a greater unit than it’s ever been. With Joey back in, it just feels right,” he says.

“One thing that’s really important, especially as you get up there in age or whatever, you start to realise that repairing old relationships should be a factor in this whole thing.”

“Because there’s so many bands that I loved when I was growing up who are not together any more, and I always say to myself, ‘Wow, I wish they could just get it together.’ Because if anything is going to bring you together, it should be the love of music.”

Anthrax to record new drum tracks on Game Of Thrones set

Scott Ian Throne Room PicThrash fans partial to a bit of HBO smash hit series Game Of Thrones rejoice! Sort of…

Scott Ian, guitarist with thrash metal legends Anthrax, has revealed that they are planning on recording drums for the band’s new album on the Belfast throne room set of the hit TV show.

Speaking to the Metal Hammer Magazine Show on Team Rock Radio, Ian explained: “I asked Dan Weiss ‘Hey man, what would be the possibility of us recording the drums for the next album in the throne room?’ Like we bring a mobile studio and set up the drums, mic everything and record in here. He says ‘Oh my God that would be the sickest thing ever. We know the guys that can make that possible.’

“All of you out there who watch Game Of Thrones, much like me, probably think it is a very metal TV show. And just know, the reason for that is that one of the creators of it is a huge metalhead.”

Ian has previously indicated that Anthrax will release a new album in 2015.

You can hear the entire interview with the Anthrax axeman on this week’s Metal Hammer Magazine Show at 9pm, on TeamRock Radio starting at 9pm BST.
