Arch Enemy announce new vocalist

Arch Enemy Alissa

Swedish metallers Arch Enemy have announced that Angela Gossow is leaving the band.

A new singer, Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist with Canadian metal band The Agonist, will take her place.

In a statement on the band’s official website, Gossow commented: “Dear Arch Enemy fans, this is not easy to tell you… I have decided to step down from being Arch Enemy’s voice of anger. After 13 years of pure fucking metal, six studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests.”

Gossow will remain as Business Manager for the band.

In the same statement posted online, White-Gluz commented: “I am very honoured and happy to announce a new chapter in my life and musical career, beginning now.”

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such amazingly talented musicians,” she continues. “I look forward to being able to write and perform at a whole new level now with Arch Enemy. Music is forever, metal is limitless and this is only the beginning.”

White-Gluz will make her recorded debut with Arch Enemy this year with the release of their new album, War Eternal, in June. A video for the title track featuring White-Gluz is due to be released later today (20th March.)

Arch Enemy working on new album

Arch Enemy

Arch Enemy have announced that they are working on the follow up to 2011’s Khaos Legions album.

Guitarist and songwriter Michael Amott explains: “This album is actually very different from Khaos Legions. All of our albums have had their own vibe, and this one will be its own entity as well. Lyrically, it’s a much more personal record, and musically, I feel the songs have more dynamics and depth than ever before.”

“There’s certainly very heavy and aggressive metal taking place,” he continues, “but there’s also another level of melody that excites me. There’s a wide spectrum of variety in the material… A couple of the songs feature real strings, and it’ll be interesting how our fans will take to that. I am pretty sure they’ll love it!”

The album is likely to be released later this year via Century Media and Arch Enemy play the UK’s Alt-Fest in August.
