Baby Animals reform original lineup and release rare recordings for 25th anniversary celebrations

Baby Animals are to play two huge live shows and release a raft of previously unheard material as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations in 2016.

Marking a quarter century since the release of their debut album, the Aussie rock band will play Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on the 21st of May followed by a show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on the 28th of May.

Each night will see the band perform two sets. The first will comprise material from across Baby Animals’ back catalogue and will be played by the BA’s current members (Suze DeMarchi, Dave Leslie, Dario Bortolin and Mick Skelton). The second will be a performance of the band’s eponymous debut album in full and will be played by Baby Animals’ original lineup (Suze DeMarchi, Dave Leslie, Eddie Parise and Frank Celenza.)

On top of the live shows Baby Animals will also release BA25, a re-mastered recording of a live show that the band played in Boston whilst on tour in the US with legendary rockers Van Halen. The album features five songs that have never been released, as well as b-sides and demos that are all previously unheard. BA25 will be released on the 20th of May.

Says Baby Animals frontwoman Suze DeMarchi: “It seems like only yesterday that we were at Sound Level rehearsal studios in Sydney beginning this journey that’s lasted 25 incredible years.”

“These parties are going to be the biggest shows Baby Animals have played in a while. If you’ve been with us from the start we cannot thank you enough for sticking around, this is all for you and because of you. And if you’re a new fan, welcome to the party.”

You can pre-order BA25 via now. Tickets for the live shows go on sale at 9am on the 2nd of December.

Baby Animals and The Superjesus announce Aussie tour

Australian rock royalty Baby Animals have announced a co-headline tour with fellow countrymen The Superjesus.

The two female-fronted bands will kick off the She Who Rocks Tour in May, beginning in Baby Animals’ frontwoman Suze DeMarchi’s hometown of Perth. Six additional shows then follow, including The Superjesus’ frontwoman Sarah McLeod’s hometown of Adelaide, finishing up at Sandy Bay, Tasmania on the 26th of June.

Suze DeMarchi said of the news: “The Superjesus blew me away with their Sumo record. I’ve been a fan since. Let’s see if they/we can keep it up!”

Sarah McLeod commented: “It’s been a long time coming, bubbling in my system since I first saw the BA’s at The Bridgeway Hotel in Adelaide in the early 90’s. I’m a fan, have always been. And now we get to share the stage together on a legit tour. Bring it on baby!”

The Baby Animals returned in 2013 with their third album (their first in 20 years), This Is Not The End. The album debuted at No.19 on the ARIA album charts and took them across Australia, playing a slew of sold out shows.

2013 also saw the reformation of The Superjesus after an overwhelming reaction to a one-off reunion show in their hometown of Adelaide. They also went on the road for the first time in a decade, playing sold out shows across the country.

Tickets for the She Who Rocks Tour, presented by Social Family Records, The Harbour Agency and Tone Deaf, go on sale today.

Confirmed tour dates are as follows:

Fri 22 May: Perth WA – Charles Hotel
Fri 29 May: Melbourne, VIC – The Hi-Fi
