Butcher Babies have released a teaser trailer for their new EP, Uncovered.

Scheduled for release on the 6th of October, the EP contains cover versions of songs by bands as diverse at ZZ Top, Napolean XIV, the Osmonds and Suicidal Tendencies.

Speaking of their cover version of the Osmonds track “Crazy Horses”, Butcher Babies vocalist Heidi Shepherd said: “When I came across Crazy Horses, it was the heaviest song I had heard at that age. I would play it over and over again – I was addicted.”

“To this date, it’s still one of my favourite songs and reminds me so much of growing up in Utah.”

Butcher Babies “…have something coming out in October”

Butcher Babies Promo 2014

Butcher Babies vocalist Heidi Shepherd has said that the band will “…have something coming out in October.”

Speaking in interview with Music Feeds, Shepherd said: “We have something coming out in October. I can’t say exactly what it is. But I’m gonna hint to it, ’cause I want to hint to it. Yes, we have something dropping in October, something that we’re all very excited about and we actually worked really hard on. And then our new album is well underway, and that will be coming out next year.”

Following non-stop touring across North America in the earlier part of the year, Butcher Babies have spent most of the summer writing and recording material for their forthcoming sophomore album, expected to be released via Century Media sometime in 2015.

In an interview with Maine Music News, Butcher Babies’ Carla Harvey said of the band’s debut album, Goliath: “We spent six weeks in pre-production and recording to make an album that gives us goose bumps every time we hear it.

“We all come from different musical backgrounds. I love old-school stuff like Slayer, old Metallica, I love Pantera. [Our drummer] Chris [Warner], loves Marilyn Manson. Heidi, my co-vocalist loves nu-metal. Henry [Flury], our guitar player, loves Meshuggah, and Jason [Klein], our bass player, loves death metal. So we managed to put all the different kinds of metal that we love into this album. It is so organic, and it sounds so good. We are getting tweets and Facebook messages all day long from our fans telling us how great it is. So besides what the critics say, what matters most is that we are proud of it and our fans are loving it.”

Goliath sold 3,300 copies during it’s first week of release, securing 107th place on the Billboard 200 music chart.

Butcher Babies’ Carla Harvey talks “Death & Other Dances” novel

Carla Harvey-001

Carla Harvey, vocalist with Butcher Babies, has been discussing her forthcoming novel saying that it was inspired by her time working at hospices, funeral homes and as a dancer.

Speaking with Detroit Live, she said of the book: “Death And Other Dances is a story about the human condition and how touch connects us all. It’s about loneliness and how in today’s digital age we are more connected, yet disconnected since we don’t actually interact face-to-face.”

“I worked in hospices and funeral homes and I was also a dancer for years. I saw a correlation between customers at the clubs and also my patients.”

“Most of the customers I met at clubs were lonely and didn’t really have anyone at home. In a lot of the hospices, patients I took care of seemed abandoned by their families as well. Working in these environments, I came to the conclusion that everyone wants to be touched, everyone wants to be acknowledged and everyone wants to be loved.”

“We all go to different lengths to find that love in our lives – and that’s what the novel is about. I can’t wait for it to come out.”

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00059]You can order Death & Other Dances from Carla Harvey’s official website.

A range of pre-order packages are available, including autographed and personalised copies of the book, along with limited edition prints of Harvey’s artworks.

It is scheduled for release on the 25th of August and will be available through Amazon and selected bookstores.
