Thunder promo 2016

Thunder frontman Danny Bowes has hinted that the band may release new material in 2017.

The band have just launched a new 3-disc package titled All You Can Eat off the back of the success of their previous studio album, Wonder Days, released in 2015.

Speaking on One On One With Mitch LaFon, Bowes said: “Providing we stay happy and healthy, we’d love to release another record in 2017. We have momentum and an international presence which is growing. The ripples of love for the Wonder Days album are still coming home to us now.”

Thunder are currently on an arena tour of the UK with Terrorvision and King King in support.

The band will play:

Feb 16th: Bristol, Colston Hall
Feb 18th: Glasgow, Clyde Auditorium
Feb 19th: Sheffield Arena

UK rockers Thunder have released a video for new track “Wonder Days”.

The song is lifted from the band’s new album of the same name, details of which are expected to be released tomorrow. The video was recorded recently at a gig in Tokyo in front of 15,000 baying fans.

Says frontman Danny Bowes: “What can I say about ‘Wonder Days’? Well, it’s the title track from the new Thunder album, our first in six years, and if you listen closely it tells the story of why we came together all those years ago to form the band. So with that in mind, we thought it’s the perfect track to introduce everyone to what we’ve been up to recently… which is making an album that we are all incredibly proud of! We played it live for the first time last month at Loud Park in Tokyo and filmed it for your pleasure. We like the song so much, we think we’ll play it again next March, along with a lot more from the new album. Come see us – a good time is guaranteed for all!”

Thunder to tour the UK with Reef in 2015

UK rockers Thunder have announced three arena shows for March 2015.

Special guests for the concerts come in the form of Reef, with support from Tax The Heat. The gigs will be Thunder’s first arena headline appearances in the UK, but frontman Danny Bowes has said that they are keeping the number of shows down whilst guitarist Ben Matthews concentrates on his treatment for cancer.

“We would have preferred to do more, but we weren’t sure if Ben would be physically up to it,” says Bowes. “Rather than put undue pressure on him, we decided on a ‘less is more’ approach to give him the best chance.”

“Our audience has continued to grow over the past few years, so these shows will be a coming together of our old fans and the new ones in a fantastic celebration. We’re extremely proud of the new album and we can’t wait to play the new songs alongside the classics.”

Reef frontman Gary Stringer said of the shows: “It’s our great pleasure to be heading out on the road with a standalone band like Thunder. They’ve carved out their own path without conforming to anybody else’s ideals. We can’t wait to get on stage with them next year and have a huge party. Let the good times roll!”

Thunder will play:

Mar 12th: First Direct Arena, Leeds
Mar 13th: National Indoor Arena, Birmingham
Mar 14th: Eventim Apollo, London

Tickets are on sale now via the Thunder Facebook Store, and will go on general release via Livenation on Friday.

Thunder guitarist Ben Matthews has cancer

Thunder And Whitesnake Perform In Sheffield

Thunder have revealed that guitarist Ben Matthews has cancer.

The band played their Calling Festival set at the end of June with temporary replacement Pete Shoulder in the six-string spot whilst Matthews had tonsil surgery.

Thunder frontman Danny Bowes said in a statement: “The surgeon found some ‘extra’ matter attached to one of them, and after some tests, it was found to be malignant.

“In effect he has cancer and needs treatment, which will mean a course of both radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Whilst the treatment is not pleasant, we’re told the percentage chances of a happy outcome are ‘in the high 90s’.”

Thunder have promised to keep fans updated and added: “In the meantime please join us in wishing him well.”

Thunder draft in replacement guitarist for Calling Festival set

Download Festival 2013 - Day 2

Brit rock band Thunder have had to draft in a replacement guitarist ahead of their Calling Festival set this weekend.

Regular guitarist Ben Matthews has had to have his tonsils removed and is too ill to play or sing. Thunder have therefore called on the six-string services of Pete Shoulder, guitarist in Luke Morley’s other band, The Union.

Thunder frontman Danny Bowes said in a statement: “Ben is unable to go out or sing, so he cannot do the show on Saturday at Clapham. Rather than cancel, the band has asked our good friend Peter Shoulder to play guitar, and he has agreed to step in.

“Ben is currently advising Pete (via text) on hair tips and shape chucking. In return Pete has agreed not to sing and play too well. Please join us in wishing Ben a speedy recovery, and thanking Pete for saving the proverbial bacon.”

Thunder recently announced that they are to record a new studio album, despite previously indicating that 2008’s Bang! would be their last.

The Calling Festival, taking place this weekend on Clapham Common, features headliners Aerosmith, as well as Joe Bonamassa, Richie Sambora and The Walking Papers on Saturday the 28th June, with the 29th being headlined by Stevie Wonder.
