Former Little Angels frontman Toby Jepson has signed a deal with Frontiers Music Srl. to release the debut album by his new band, Wayward Sons.

Jepson is in the throes of writing the new material with the aim of recording later this year, followed by a release in the first half of 2017.

Jepson hasn’t rested on his laurels since Little Angels split in ’94, producing albums for bands such as The Answer and The Virginmarys and co-writing and producing two albums of material with James Toseland, as well as writing, recording and releasing EPs under his own name.

So why begin this new project now?

Says Jepson: “Well ,I feel I have unfinished business, stories still left to tell, points to make, noise to create, all of the above…besides, it wasn’t a choice, more of a need.

“My intention is very simple. I want to sing about what makes me tick; about what I believe in. Hopefully you will believe in it too.

“It will be warts and all. Take it. Leave it. I hope I can help by being passionate through entertainment.”

Wayward Sons have started an official Facebook page, described as the only official place to keep up-to-date with the latest news and information about the band.

Adds Jepson: “Thanks for your continued support, this is a new chapter in my life as a musician and song writer, I hope you will come along for the ride. So please like this page and lets get cracking.”

Operation: Mindcrime sign album trilogy deal

Geoff Tate’s band Operation: Mindcrime have signed a record deal to release a planned trilogy of albums.

Frontiers Music Srl will release the three albums from the former Queensryche man who gave up that band name earlier this year in an out-of-court settlement with his former colleagues.

Tate says signing the deal with Frontiers Music Srl will give him the freedom he needs to turn his new ideas for his latest project into a reality:

“All of us in Operation: Mindcrime are looking forward to the new frontier with our new label Frontiers Music Srl. They’re giving us the creative freedom necessary to do the trilogy project I’ve envisioned for the past few years.

“It’s going to be great fun for all of us involved and we hope our fans will enjoy listening to it as much as we plan to enjoy creating and recording it.”

Frontiers Music president Serafino Perugino said of the deal: “As a longtime fan of Geoff Tate and the Operation: Mindcrime album, I am truly honoured that he decided to sign with my label to give a home to his forthcoming trilogy. We look forward to releasing Operation: Mindcrime’s new music to the world.”

The first album of the new trilogy is tentatively scheduled for release in late spring/early summer of 2015.
