Ginger Wildheart shares new video for solo track ‘If You Find Yourself In London Town’

Ginger Wildheart has released a new video for his solo track “If You Find Yourself In London Town.”

The cautionary tale is taken from Ginger’s album The Year Of The Fanclub.

“The video and song is a letter to a younger me, trying to make a name for himself in the big city,” says Ginger. “What to avoid and what to watch out for.

“I’d have loved to have had some advice back when I moved from the North East, but I didn’t know anyone who had moved to London before me. This meant learning on the move, which was invaluable in gaining survival tips for my future. It was a very different place then, and well worth the cost of training to navigate.”

Meanwhile, Ginger is currently on the road as part of a breakneck UK tour with his outfits The Ginger Wildheart Band and Hey! Hello!

The live shows see Ginger chalking up 18 appearances across just 16 days in July, supported at all shows by US power pop titan Ryan Hamilton & The Traitors.

Remaining dates are as follows:

Jul 21st: Cambridge Portland Arms
Jul 22nd: London Brooklyn Bowl (TGW Band & Hey! Hello!)
Jul 23rd: Ramblin’ Man Fair
Jul 24th: Steelhouse Festival (Hey! Hello!)

Ginger Wildheart launches new label Round Records in conjunction with PledgeMusic

Ginger Wildheart has launched a brand new record label, Round Records.

The label is set to act as a home for the many and varied projects that Ginger is a part of, including Hey! Hello!, The Wildhearts and more.

Arguably Ginger’s most ambitious project to date – moving from stand-alone individual releases to a fully-fledged record label – PledgeMusic is proud to be partnering with Ginger and Round Records to enable fans to pre-order new releases and access a host of extra and exclusive offers.

Says the man himself: “Round Records allows me to further explore what can be achieved using the direct-to-fan formula.

“My last project was a fan club, something that I had always enjoyed as a kid. When I realised that a lot of people didn’t even know what a fan club was the logical next step was to introduce a record label whose logo was as iconic and the music it releases.

“Growing up with Stiff, Sub Pop and Def Jam I always loved the idea of a ‘fair’ record company, but I’ve had precious little personal experience in record companies being anything more than a smokescreen run by corporate suits with very little understanding let alone love for the music.

“This time around I’m the boss, and this boss is all about the music.”

Ginger and PledgeMusic have history. In August 2011, Ginger launched his Triple Album Project via the platform. The pitch was to record a 30-song triple album and the campaign met with immediate success, hitting 100% of the funding target within six hours of launching.

The resulting album was a huge success for Ginger and won him the Classic Rock magazine ‘Event of the Year’ award. Subsequent projects with PledgeMusic have delivered equally stunning results; the last one being a book entitled Songs & Words, which featured archive photos and the stories behind Ginger’s songs as only Ginger could tell them.

Round Records’ first releases will be:

Hey! Hello – Hey! Hello! Too! album, releasing 3rd June 2016)
The Wildhearts – PHUQ Live (album, releasing 1st July 2016)
Ginger Wildheart – Solo Album Boxset (releasing 5th August 2016)
Mutation – Mutation III (album, releasing 2nd September 2016)

Ginger Wildheart releases thought-provoking 9 minute video for ‘Don’t Lose Your Tail, Girl’

Ginger Wildheart has released a thought-provoking 9-minute video for his track “Don’t Lose Your Tail, Girl.”

The song will feature on Ginger’s new album, Year Of The Fanclub, scheduled for release on the 12th of February via Round Round Records.

Created in conjunction with director Mark Haldor, Ginger says of the new video: “’Don’t Lose Your Tail, Girl’ is a feminist song written by a man. I was brought up by strong women and had little positive male influence in my life in comparison. I think this gives me an unbiased view on the opposite sex, by which I mean it’s unaffected by the stereotypes supported in magazines aimed at both men and women. In the end it’s a song about appreciating yourself, giving yourself a break, which seems harder for women in society.

“I wanted Mark to film the movie as I know he has earned strong bonds with the actresses he works with,” he adds. “He also has an eye for beauty beyond heavy make up and posing, which is what a nine-minute film really needs. Nine minutes of contorting females would be torturous to watch. He has captured personality and joy, as well as a darker side that is quite disturbing. I think the film is a work of art, occasionally uncomfortable to watch, but with a lasting feeling of freedom. It’s a song about not losing your identity, and the film captures that in the natural beauty of the performances.”

Director Mark Haldor comments that the film’s intention is to “provoke a look at women, of all ages, races and backgrounds and what they go through in life, both positive and negative”.

“My intention was that everyone viewing should be able to resonate with at least one moment from it on a personal level,” he explains. “Whilst shot with many beautiful and talented actresses to tell several stories, the suggestion is that they could also be contrasting snapshots of just one character’s life, had she made different life choices.

“It was important to me that there was also no definitive ending to this film or any of the stories told as I wanted people to be left wondering what happens to these characters next?” he continues. “Just as we do with people we know and have known in real life. A reminder for all to embrace each day and who we are because that’s all that truly matters.”
