Joanna Newsom confirms new material in the works

Joanna-Newsom-001

Joanna Newsom has confirmed that she is working on a new album – her first in five years.

Speaking in interview with Dazed, the singer, songwriter and musician said: “I’m working on something new – I should hopefully have a little more news soon. I’ve been working hard for a lot of those five years on a new idea.”

Newsom’s last album, Have One On Me, was released in 2010, following her critically acclaimed 2004 debut The Milk Eyed Mender, and its follow up Ys.

Meanwhile, Newsom is also set to appear in new film Inherent Vice, due to hit UK cinemas in January. Speaking of her role in the movie, Newsom says: “This movie was so incredibly rewarding and fun for me, and it did maybe defer some of my music work for a while, but it was totally worth it.”
