Kim Deal reveals details of new single

Kim DealKim Deal has revealed details of a new single, ‘The Root.’

The song is a collaboration with Morgan Nagler of Whispertown, and the accompanying video was filmed in the car park of the Ohio store where Nagler has a day job.

The single is the latest in a series of 7″ releases from Deal following ‘Are You Mine’, ‘Hot Shot’ and ‘Walking With A Killer.’ It will be released on the 1st April as a digital download, and will also be available as a white label 7″ from Deal’s own website.

Kim Shattuck ‘disappointed’ to leave Pixies

Kim ShattuckKim Shattuck has left the Pixies, reports Uncut.

Shattuck only joined the band formally this summer after previous bassist and long-time member Kim Deal left in 2012. Shattuck has posted on Twitter that she is “disappointed” with the decision.

Meanwhile, Pixies have been announced as the headline act for next year’s Field Day Festival in London, taking place on June 8th. It remains to be seen who will play bass on the day.

Pixies release new 4 track EP and video

EP1Pixies have today released a brand new EP and video.

The four track EP, titled EP-1, was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Gil Norton. Norton has worked with Pixies before on their albums Doolittle, Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde. The video to the first single from the EP, Indie Cindy, has been released at the same time. You can watch it below.

The band recently announced four UK and Ireland dates this November (2013) as part of the first leg of a “massive world tour”. They’ll be joined on the tour by new bassist Kim Shattuck, who previously played with The Muffs and The Pandoras. Original bass player Kim Deal confirmed she was leaving the band in June.

The new Pixies line-up will play Dublin’s Olympia on November 18, and then gigs at Manchester Apollo on November 21, Glasgow’s Barrowland on November 22 and London’s Hammersmith Apollo on November 24 and 25.
