Queen announce new album, “Queen Forever”

Legendary British rock band Queen have revealed that they will release a new album this winter.

Queen Forever is scheduled for release on November the 10th via Virgin Records.

The tracks include a long anticipated track from Queen and Michael Jackson, “There Must Be More to Life Than This”, a previously unfinished Mercury-Queen track “Let Me In Your Heart Again” originating from the band’s The Works album recording sessions, and a scorching new stripped-down ballad version of Mercury’s first solo hit, his Giorgio Moroder collaboration, “Love Kills.”

The album will be available as a 20-track single CD and as an extended 36-track, two-CD set. As well as three new tracks, the package brings together Queen hits, classic tracks, and new takes on well-known songs, matched with band recordings Brian May describes as “things that we have collected together that are representative of our growth rather than the big hits” in a collection immaculately assembled by May and Roger Taylor themselves.

Brian May has confirmed that Queen will release a new album featuring vocals by Freddie Mercury before the year is out.

The guitarist has said that the album is likely to be titled Queen Forever, and that Mercury’s vocals date back to recordings made during the 1980’s. May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor have recorded instrumental tracks based on “scraps” of previously unreleased Queen material to accompany the vocals.

The album may also feature a previously unreleased duet between Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson, which Brian May revealed in March of the this year existed in the Queen vaults.

“We had to start from scratch,” May told BBC Radio Wales this week. “Knowing how it would have happened if we’d finished the songs, I can sit there and make it happen with modern technology. It’s quite emotional. It’s the big, big Queen ballads and the big, big epic sound.”

Michael Jackson hologram performs at Billboard Music Awards

A hologram of Michael Jackson ‘performed’ at the Billboard Music Awards last night (18th of May.)

You can watch footage from the show below.

The hologram made up part of the performance of new song, ‘Slave To The Rhythm’, which features on the singer’s posthumous album, Xscape.

The performance was supposed to be secret, but a ruling by a federal judge which rejected a lawsuit from hologram companies Hologram USA Inc and Musion Das Hologram Ltd – who made the Tupac hologram at 2012’s Coachella Festival and hoped to stop the performance – made the news of the event public prior to the awards show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Xscape went straight to Number One in the UK last night.
