Michael Monroe releases new single and video ‘Goin’ Down With The Ship’

Michael Monroe 2015

Michael Monroe has released the video for his new single, “Goin’ Down With The Ship.”

The track is lifted from the legendary vocalist’s new album, Blackout States, released last year via Spinefarm.

Says Monroe: “The song is not necessarily about sailing or seamanship as such. It’s basically about us getting on the tour bus and hitting the road with our band. Ville Juurikkala, who shot the videos for ‘Ballad of the Lower East Side’, ‘Stained Glass Heart’ and ‘Old King’s Road’ has done this new one, too. It was pretty easy to make and includes some footage shot by the band while we were on tour.

“I think the video has a good vibe and we’re all happy with the way it turned out. Hope you enjoy it!”

Michael Monroe began a series of US tour dates yesterday and will play the following shows:

11th Feb: Los Angeles, CA @ Whiskey
12th Feb: Los Angeles, CA @ Whiskey
13th Feb: San Jose, CA @ Rock Bar
16th Feb: Sellersville, PA @ Sellersville Theater 1984
17th Feb: Cambridge, MA @ Middle East
19th Feb: New York, NY @ Gramercy Theater
20th Feb: Asbury Park, NJ @ Wonder Bar
22nd Feb: Miami, FL @ Monsters of Rock East Cruise

Monroe has now also been confirmed for the inaugural Stone Free Festival at London’s O2 Arena. Monroe & Co. will be joining the likes of The Darkness and Blackberry Smoke on Saturday the 18th of June, in addition to headliner Alice Cooper, who requested the band as Special Guests for his UK headline shows in October of last year.

Michael Monroe premieries new single ‘Old King’s Road’

Michael Monroe 2015

Michael Monroe has shared the first single from his forthcoming new album.

“Old King’s Road” is lifted from the ex-Hanoi Rocks frontman’s new LP, Blackout States, due for release on the 9th of October via Spinefarm.

“I’m extremely excited about our new album,” says Monroe. “It has all the ingredients of a perfect rock ‘n’ roll record – strong melodic songs with great meaningful lyrics that defy all cliches, delivered with a punky, ballsy attitude by a killer band. I highly recommend Blackout States to anyone who’s even a little bit interested in what real, authentic, high energy rock ‘n’ roll at its best sounds like today.”

In celebration of the release, Monroe will be heading out on tour in Europe in October. He will be accompanied on all dates by his regular touring and recording outfit: bassist Sami Yaffa (ex-Hanoi Rocks/New York Dolls), guitarist Steve Conte (ex-New York Dolls/Company Of Wolves), guitarist Rich Jones (ex-Black Halos/Amen) and drummer Karl Rockfist (ex-Chelsea Smiles/Danzig).

Confirmed shows are as follows:

Oct 09th: Birmingham, The Library
Oct 10th: Sheffield, Corporation
Oct 11th: Glasgow, Cathouse
Oct 12th: Manchester, Club Academy
Oct 13th: Norwich, Waterfront
Oct 15th: London, Electric Ballroom
Oct 29th: Plymouth, Pavilions
Oct 30th: Swindon, Oasis
