UK thrash metal crew Evile have announced their new guitarist, reports Metal Hammer.

Former Fallen Fate member Piers Donno-Fuller will replace Ol Drake who left the Yorkshire band in 2013.

Speaking to Team Rock Radio’s Metal Hammer Magazine Show, bass player Joel Graham said the band opted from someone local, as well as very talented: “We had to step back and ask what do we do from this point. We thought it would be a shame to stop it right now. We had to find the right guy, that’s taken time. I appreciate people have been waiting for news but we’ve got to spend time with this guy, get on with him, travel with him and he’s got big shoes to fill.

“We’re still good friends with Ol, we can’t not be, he’s Matt’s brother. He made his decision and we respect that. We kind of realised that the last four years have been manic for us and we decided to take some time off. Then we put it out there if anyone wants to send in an audition tape. Being a northern band we wanted someone on our doorstep.”

New guitarist Piers said of his joining the band: “We’ve had passing chats and had been talking for a while. But I got in touch when Ol left and it went from there. It was time to get on to something else and expand out and Evile was the perfect opportunity. I’m massively grateful to these guys for letting me come on board. I’m learning all the tracks. Ol’s a fantastic guitar player so it’s not easy trying to work out his solos. We’ve got something in the pipeline for March.”

Whitesnake have chosen a new guitarist… but it’s still a secret!

Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale has let it be known that the band have chosen a new guitarist following the departure of Doug Aldrich….. but it’s still a secret who it is!

Aldrich left the band in May following what he described as “scheduling conflicts,” with rumours soon circling that one of the band’s previous axemen was ready to pick up the gauntlet.

But Coverdale says that the new six-stringer is not one of Whitesnake’s former members.

“We have had a new super guitarist in play for a while now, as I hinted some time ago, so, you can relax. Unfortunately, because of contractual commitments on his side, we cannot reveal his name, rank and serial number just yet,” he said in a statement.

“Of course, you will be the first to know when we can draw back the Snakey curtains to show him in all his musical finery. He is not a former member of Whitesnake. It is a new one with as many bells and whistles as we could could possibly need.”

The singer appeared to be fed up with all the speculation about possible replacements when he posted a message online last month that read: “As always, I sincerely thank you all for your generosity, but, with all due respect, I’ll be making the decision who the band and I are going to work with.

“It’s a very simple process. I guarantee it will be a very gifted guitarist who plays great and sings great, works well in a team, someone who appreciates Whitesnake music and a player whom we feel will help us take Whitesnake to the next level in as many ways as possible – without unnecessary distractions.”

Coverdale’s latest post also updated fans on the progress of new material: “By the way, the new album is going exceptionally well. I couldn’t be happier,” he said.

Whitesnake’s last album, Forevermore, was released in 2011.
