The Agonist praise producer Chris Donaldson

The Agonist 2014 Promo

The Agonist have been speaking in praise of their producer Chris Donaldson.

In a new studio update, the band’s drummer Simon McKay says: “The good thing about working with Chris is that he’s really calm. If you hit a bump and it’s not working, he’ll just let you work it out. There’s not much you can do other than hammer out the kinks at that point – he’ll tell you if it’s not good.”

Says guitarist Danny Marino: “We see eye to eye on some things and we don’t see eye to eye on other things when it comes to recording production,” he says. “It’s good because sometimes you need someone to tell you ‘no’ and that you should maybe consider other ideas. The end result is a really good balance of his way of doing things and ours.”

Donaldson was in the production seat for The Agonist’s first three albums, and has returned for this album, Eye Of Providence, the band’s first with new vocalist Vicky Psarakis. Previous vocalist Alissa White-Gluz left The Agonist early this year to join Arch Enemy.

Arch Enemy announce new vocalist

Arch Enemy Alissa

Swedish metallers Arch Enemy have announced that Angela Gossow is leaving the band.

A new singer, Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist with Canadian metal band The Agonist, will take her place.

In a statement on the band’s official website, Gossow commented: “Dear Arch Enemy fans, this is not easy to tell you… I have decided to step down from being Arch Enemy’s voice of anger. After 13 years of pure fucking metal, six studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests.”

Gossow will remain as Business Manager for the band.

In the same statement posted online, White-Gluz commented: “I am very honoured and happy to announce a new chapter in my life and musical career, beginning now.”

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such amazingly talented musicians,” she continues. “I look forward to being able to write and perform at a whole new level now with Arch Enemy. Music is forever, metal is limitless and this is only the beginning.”

White-Gluz will make her recorded debut with Arch Enemy this year with the release of their new album, War Eternal, in June. A video for the title track featuring White-Gluz is due to be released later today (20th March.)
