Bach says charting higher than Ozzy is career ‘milestone’

Sebastian Bach has said that his latest album charting higher than Ozzy Osbourne’s new hits collection in its first week of sale is a “milestone” in his career.

Bach’s Give ‘Em Hell was released back in April, debuting at No.72 on the Billboard chart. By contrast Ozzy Osbourne’s hits collection, Memoirs Of A Madman, landed at No.90.

Speaking to the Illinois Entertainer, Bach said: “My ultimate dream in rock ‘n’ roll when I was fired from Skid Row in 1996 was to possibly some day be like Ozzy Osbourne, in that he came up with Sabbath and then had a successful solo career.

“Give ‘Em Hell sold more copies the first week out than the new Ozzy Osbourne record. That’s really a milestone for me because that’s what I was trying to do. I think after three, four or five solo releases, I’m establishing myself in that way. This is the most successful solo record I’ve ever had.”

Following the release of Give ‘Em Hell in the Spring Bach had said that he was bewildered by his Facebook followers, asking why of his 800,000 fans only 5000 had bought the new album.

Ozzy Osbourne to be honoured at MTV EMAs

Ozzy Osbourne will receive the Global Icon Award at this year’s MTV EMAs.

Now in its 20th year, the ceremony will take place on the 9th of November at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. It will be broadcast live from 9pm.

The award is being given in recognition of Osbourne’s work both as a solo artist and as a member of Black Sabbath.

For over four decades (and counting!) he’s entertained, influenced, inspired and sometimes shocked legions of die-hard fans around the globe. Black Sabbath to record new album

Black Sabbath at the Grammy Awards

Speaking to the UK’s Metal Hammer magazine, Ozzy Osbourne has exclusively revealed that Black Sabbath are to record a new album together.

The heavy metal icons will team up with super-producer Rick Rubin once again to make the follow-up to 2013’s hugely successful LP, 13.

The band have been reticent about their future together, suggesting that a new album was by no means definite, and that their London shows this past summer might well be their last.

However, in interview with Metal Hammer Ozzy said: “The whole Sabbath experience this time around was great. We all made friends, we didn’t fuck around, we all knew that we had a job to do, and we did it. It was a lot of fun. So we’re going to do one more album, and a final tour. Once the dust settled after the last tour we started discussing the idea, because we were getting asked about it all the time. I said to Sharon ‘What’s going on? Because if there’s no more Sabbath I want to get on with my own thing again’ and she came back and said ‘Let me look into it.’ Three weeks later I asked her about it again, and she said ‘Oh, I still have to talk to so and so…’ and I said ‘Sharon, I ain’t fucking 21 any more, if we’re going to do I want to do it before I’m 70!’ Time isn’t on our side! So she made the call and came back and said ‘Yeah, the record company wants another album.’ I believe Rick Rubin is going to do it with us again.”

Ozzy confirmed that the band currently had no new material written, but suggested that the sessions will take place in the early part of 2015: “It’ll be sooner rather than later,” he insisted. “Obviously a lot of it is coming down to Tony’s health, he’s obviously got his cancer treatment, but we’ll get onto it next year. I don’t know if we’ll be writing in England or LA, but I’ll fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to!”

Ozzy Osbourne reveals ‘Memoirs Of A Madman’ set

Metal music legend Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he is to release a ‘best of’ compilation featuring tracks from across his back catalogue.

Memoirs of a Madman is scheduled for release on the 7th of October, and will be available in CD, 2-DVD and double vinyl formats. A limited edition picture disc version will also be available.

The Black Sabbath frontman, solo artist and self proclaimed Prince of Darkness teased the new release across social media yesterday, asking fans to use the hashtag #OzzyRules. Ozzy indicated that the more the tag was used, the more quickly cover art for his new project would be revealed. The full image was ultimately uncovered within 17 hours.

The audio format of the album will feature 17 songs, with the DVD containing music videos and historic live performances.
