Protest The Hero launch music subscription platform

Protest The Hero

Protest The Hero have launched a subscription platform that will give fans access to new music from the band on a monthly basis.

The progressive metal crew have launched the Pacific Myth project in conjunction with Bandcamp and will be releasing a new song on the 15th of every month for the next six months. New track “Ragged Tooth” is available now.

Protest The Hero say: “For a long time we have been dreaming of a new way to bring you our music. We wanted something more direct than a standard album release and record cycle.

“In our opinion, this is the most direct way we can deliver you new tunes. We have chosen to lead things off this month with Ragged Tooth a cracking little banger of a song which we felt represented where we are headed with all of this.

“It’s important to note that every song release will be accompanied with an instrumental mix of the song as well as hi-res album art, lyrics, and liner notes.”

Access to Pacific Myth costs $12, or $25 for bonus access to Protest The Hero’s documentary series, Of Our Own Volition. The band do say that they haven’t given up on releasing full-length albums, the most recent of which was 2013’s Volition.

Protest The Hero become “Ghosts Of The Road”

Protest The Hero

Protest The Hero are the first band to be featured in a new documentary series charting life on the road.

Ghosts Of The Road was created by FreqsTV, and the Canadian rockers are the subject of the very first episode.

Say FreqsTV of the show: “Ghosts Of The Road is an intimate day-in-the-life-of portrait series, featuring some of today’s top rock and metal acts as they navigate a rigorous life on the road.

“This landmark series offers more to fans than the mic-in-the-face interview and will go backstage to take a more personal look at what it takes to bring the rock to the masses.”

Watch! Protest The Hero release short film for “Mist”

PTH Vid Cap 640x360

Canadian progressive metal band Protest The Hero have released an 8-minute short film acting as a music video for their track “Mist”.

The song is lifted from the band’s album Volition, which was released independently last year, and the video pays specific tribute to the band’s fans in Newfoundland.

Protest The Hero guitarist Luke Hoskin said that the creative concept for the film came about after the band had arranged a trip to the island province in order to make the video: “It felt more like a carnival than a tour. Our motorcade invaded gas stations and rest stops along the way. When we were done, though, it felt like something was missing. We felt like we’d left out the most beautiful part of the island – the island itself! So we returned. And we made sure to capture some of our favourite spots in the St. John’s area.”

“It was an amazing feeling to make a video about the place you love the most. I’m constantly reminded of the friendships we have made there, and am ever thankful for the reception we have experienced. There’s something truly magnetic about this place – don’t go unless you plan on returning many times.”

You can watch the film for “Mist” below:

Protest The Hero will play the following live dates in the UK later this year:

Nov 25th: Southampton Mo Club
Nov 26th: Manchester Academy
Nov 29th: Belfast Limelight
Nov 30th: Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall
Dec 1st: Edinburgh Studio 24
Dec 2nd: London Koko
