Anti-Flag announce new album and record deal

Pittsburgh punks Anti-Flag have signed a deal with Spinefarm Records it has been announced.

In a release revealing the news the band confirm that their next album will be titled American Spring and will be out in May.

Say Anti-Flag of the new material: “…There is no shortage of fodder for a new record of commentary on the social and political climate in 2015: endless wars, the new Jim Crow and American injustice, corprotocracy, environmental coup d’état, the surveillance state, loss, grief and anxiety. We hope that these songs can grant us solace in a seemingly hopeless era.

“It has been frustrating to see much punk rock music — and music in general — quiet in the face of so many atrocities that are taking place around the world. This record is not quiet. If you are disillusioned with the status quo, these songs are for you. The American Spring is now.”

Says Spinefarm Records General Manager Worldwide, Jonas Nachsin: “Anti-Flag are a band with a message certainly, and in addition, the music is just as compelling. This album, our first with the band, is just incredible. While we are happy to help deliver it to their legion of devoted fans, our plan is also to extend it out to those who haven’t yet been exposed to this treasured act. We are proud that they chose us to bring on American Spring.”

Full album details are to be released in due course. Meanwhile, Anti-Flag have confirmed the following European tour dates:

May 29th-31st: Nürburgring, DE – DER RING – GRÜNE HÖLLE ROCK
May 29th-31st: Olympiapark München, DE – ROCKAVARIA
Aug 06th-09th: Blackpool, UK – REBELLION FESTIVAL

Operation: Mindcrime sign album trilogy deal

Geoff Tate’s band Operation: Mindcrime have signed a record deal to release a planned trilogy of albums.

Frontiers Music Srl will release the three albums from the former Queensryche man who gave up that band name earlier this year in an out-of-court settlement with his former colleagues.

Tate says signing the deal with Frontiers Music Srl will give him the freedom he needs to turn his new ideas for his latest project into a reality:

“All of us in Operation: Mindcrime are looking forward to the new frontier with our new label Frontiers Music Srl. They’re giving us the creative freedom necessary to do the trilogy project I’ve envisioned for the past few years.

“It’s going to be great fun for all of us involved and we hope our fans will enjoy listening to it as much as we plan to enjoy creating and recording it.”

Frontiers Music president Serafino Perugino said of the deal: “As a longtime fan of Geoff Tate and the Operation: Mindcrime album, I am truly honoured that he decided to sign with my label to give a home to his forthcoming trilogy. We look forward to releasing Operation: Mindcrime’s new music to the world.”

The first album of the new trilogy is tentatively scheduled for release in late spring/early summer of 2015.

Cradle Of Filth ink deal with Nuclear Blast

Cradle Of Filth

British extreme metal band Cradle Of Filth have signed a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records.

The announcement comes ahead of the release of the band’s eleventh studio album. The LP is tentatively slated for release in 2015 and, according to frontman Dani Filth, has a working title of Hammer Of The Witches.

Says Filth of the news: “Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger has been trying to snare the band ever since I flew over to see him way back in 1996 as a viable label option, after we left Cacophonous Records. He barely missed out due to the close proximity to the band of Music For Nations, the label that Cradle stayed with until 2001.”

“For the full frontal assault we have planned for the awesome new album, Nuclear Blast are the perfect war stallion to carry us screaming into the heart of the next chapter of Cradle Of Filth’s dark, enigmatic history.”

African-American 8th grade metal band secure record deal worth $1.7m

Unlocking The Truth Band Shot

A Brooklyn based African-American heavy metal trio who’s members are just 12 and 13 years old have secured a record deal that has the potential to net them $1.7million.

Unlocking The Truth were discovered by Eric Calpton’s drummer, Steve Jordan, who spotted them jamming in Washington Square Park in 2012. Guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse and bassist Alec Atkins, both 13, and drummer Jarad Dawkins, 12, now have a set at Californian festival Coachella under their belts, along with supporting slots for hard rock heavyweights Guns N’ Roses.

Reports state that the band are guaranteed to release two records via Sony, with an advance of $60,000 for the first, and as much as $350,000 for the second. If the albums prove to be successful, Sony music can then pick up the group’s options for a further four albums, leading to the payout of up to $1.7million.

Alan Sacks manages the group, and New York Daily News has reported that they have a documentary in production, and a book due out at Christmas.

“It’s so exciting. We’re jumping over the moon,” said Jarad’s mother, Tabatha Dawkins.

The trio all share singing duties and are currently touring North America as part of the Vans Warped Tour.
