Rival Sons confirmed to support Black Sabbath’s final stand

Rival Sons 2015

Rival Sons have been confirmed as support for Black Sabbath during their The End world tour.

Rival Sons frontman Scott Holiday believes that the opportunity came about after they played at an awards ceremony where Ozzy Osbourne and family were in attendance.

“The attendees – which included the upper crust of classic rock, and some of the world’s most famous – really enjoyed our little three-song set. Especially Ozzy, Sharon and the kids,” he says.

“We chatted and hung with the Osbournes after the show, which was incredible on its own. But something much greater has transpired.”

He adds: “Every now and again the universe just speaks to you and planets align. This is definitely one of those situations for us.”

The shows will mark Black Sabbath’s last ever live tour before they bow out of a career that has lasted nearly five decades. They are expected to release their last ever studio album next year.

So far Sabbath have confirmed a series of tour dates for 2016 in the US, Australia and New Zealand. Confirmation of further dates is expected in October.

Rival Sons charge up with new video for Electric Man

Rival Sons vid cap

Rival Sons have released a video for their track “Electric Man.”

The song is lifted from the band’s critically acclaimed 2014 album Great Western Valkyrie.

Says Rival Sons bassist Dave Beste: “We were recently asked to be an experiment in a laboratory study. The people behind the study evidently wanted to measure our rock’n’roll power, and so we played ‘Electric Man’ and in the process we broke all their equipment. Somebody taped it and we made a special video out of it. So watch it, and enjoy it. We love science.”

Rival Sons are currently on tour in the US. You can watch the video for “Electric Man” below:

Rival Sons forced to stop Norwich show after 2 songs

Rival Sons

Rival Sons were last night forced to stop the final show of their UK tour after just two songs.

Frontman Jay Buchanan, who had been feeling ill all day, told his bandmates that he was unable to continue with the show at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

Guitarist Scott Holiday says: “We couldn’t be more disappointed – it’s the first time we’ve ever had to do this. We offer our extreme apologies.

“Jay was at an extreme deficit; just not well. He was completely unable to continue, or we would have. All we can say is we’re already working on making it up to you, Norwich.”

Rival Sons have been touring with Blues Pills in support of their latest album Great Western Valkyrie. They are scheduled to release new single “Good Things” next month and are set to return to the UK in March.

The band’s confirmed Spring tour dates are:

Mar 28th: Leeds Academy
Mar 29th: Liverpool Academy
Mar 30th: Glasgow Academy
Apr 01st: London Roundhouse
Apr 03rd: Nottingham Rock City
Apr 04th: Southampton Guildhall
