Sylosis man Josh Middleton announces new solo prog album

Sylosis frontman Josh Middleton has announced that he will be releasing a solo album with a “70s prog vibe.”

Hollowed-Out Planetoid will be released under Middleton’s JMP moniker, with a firm launch date yet to be revealed.

Says Middleton: “I will be releasing a solo album that I’ve been working on for the past year real soon. It’s got a 70s prog vibe to it. No Kickstarter campaign but it was all self-funded and will be self-released.”

Referencing the fact that the album will be a digital-only release, he adds: “I just can’t afford to get CDs made as you have to get a minimum quantity done in bulk and I just don’t have the time to be processing them and posting them all out – and I don’t want to pay someone else to do that for me.

“I’m afraid that’s final – no comments are going to persuade me otherwise. I know it’s annoying for some people but there are t-shirts and prints if you want something physical.”

More album details as and when we have them! In the meantime, check out Middleton’s album announcement clip and the Hollowed-Out Planetoid cover art below:

Sylosis announce co-headline UK tour with Decapitated

Sylosis 2015

Sylosis have announced a co-headline UK tour with Poland’s Decapitated.

The two bands will play 10 dates across the country in March of next year.

Says Sylosis main man Josh Middleton: “We’re extremely excited – it’s great to finally be playing a full-length set for our very patient UK fans.

“With this package I think it’s really worth the wait. We’ve been huge Decapitated fans since the time Nihility came out. Just getting to watch them every night is going to be awesome.”

Decapitated guitarist Vogg says in a statement: “We love to play in the UK. After tours with Lamb of God and Behemoth, it’s time to finally play a full set for you guys.”

Tickets for the shows go on sale this Friday the 13th of November at 9am, with pre-sales on the 11th and 12th.

Sylosis and Decapitated will play:

Mar 02nd: Bristol, Marble Factory
Mar 03rd: Birmingham, Rainbow
Mar 04th: Glasgow, Garage
Mar 05th: Manchester, Academy 3

LISTEN! Sylosis stream new album “Dormant Heart” in full

Sylosis December 2015

Sylosis are streaming their new album, Dormant Heart, in full following its release today.

The stream comes hot on the heels of the release of preview videos for the album’s lead single “Mercy”, and second track “Leech”.

Frontman Josh Middleton sums up the new record thus: “It’s the most pissed-off, aggressive and intense album we’ve done, yet it still retains the epic, progressive and melodic side we’re also known for. It’s a very gloomy and atmospheric album.

“We’ve been through a lot as a band and individuals and we’ve made our darkest album to date.”

The album is Sylosis’ first following the departure of drummer Rob Callard last September. Callard was replaced by Bleed From Within’s Ali Richardson who will play with both bands moving forward.

You can stream Dormant Heart via the Nuclear Blast records website.
