Iron Maiden have extended their The Book Of Souls World Tour with the announcement of a raft of new European arena dates.

Beginning in Antwerp on the 22nd of April, 2017, ‘Maiden will play a total of 16 new shows across Belgium, Germany, the UK and Ireland.

Maiden founder member and bass player Steve Harris says:

“As it’s been so long since our last full UK arena tour, we really wanted to get to our fans in as many cities as possible. We’re really looking forward to it, especially visiting places we haven’t been to for a very long time like Leeds where we haven’t played since 2005 and Liverpool where we haven’t played since 1990.

“The whole band is really enjoying this tour and although we love playing festivals and stadiums, it is terrific to return to the intimacy and atmosphere of arenas,” he continues. “The songs from The Book Of Souls album and the new Maya-themed Eddies and stage sets have gone down really well and fan reaction has been amazing. And of course we know our fans appreciate us playing a lot of the older songs too, which we will continue to do.”

Iron Maiden thank fans in Book Of Souls world tour video

Iron Maiden live 2016 large

Iron Maiden have released a video thanking fans for their support during the band’s Book Of Souls World Tour which wrapped last week with a performance at this year’s Wacken Open Air festival.

The heavy metal legends have racked up 72 shows in 36 countries during the tour, playing to over 1.5 million fans in the process. Maiden’s critically acclaimed LP, The Book Of Souls, was released in September last year. It is the band’s 16th album and their first studio double.

Says ‘Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris in the video: “”It’s been a brilliant tour and the fans have been absolutely brilliant everywhere, but I’ve got to say we are all, if I’m honest, looking forward to a nice rest. We’ll see you on the next one.”

Says drummer Nicko McBrain: “It’s been absolutely fantastic, a blast – the best tour yet. Everyone who has had anything to do with this tour, I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

“None more so than you lot, all you wonderful fans out there who have made this leg of the tour one of the most exciting and memorable tours I’ve ever done with Iron Maiden.”

Iron Maiden share video for ‘Death or Glory’

Iron Maiden 2015 promo

Iron Maiden have released a video for their track “Death or Glory.”

The song features on The Book Of Souls, ‘Maiden’s most recent album and the band’s first studio double LP.

The video opens with a look at Ed Force One, the band’s customised Boeing 747 jet piloted by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, before interspersing concert footage from their current world tour which began in February.

Iron Maiden are set to close next weekend’s Download festival with a headline slot on Sunday the 12th of June. It’s ‘Maiden’s only confirmed UK appearance in 2016.

Says Dickinson: “Download is a very special place for us. Not just because it’s always great to play on home turf but because there’s a truly unique vibe there, it’s the very heart of England and of metal, so a fitting place for Iron Maiden.

“The crowd is always fiercely passionate and the whole band feeds off that famous Donington energy. We aim to deliver a really memorable show for our fans to close the 2016 Festival.

“Although this is our sixth time headlining at Castle Donington, it’s the first time we’ve been able to land Ed Force One right on the doorstep of the festival site.”

Iron Maiden share ‘Book Of Souls World Tour – The Story So Far…’ video

Iron Maiden 2015 promo

Iron Maiden have shared a video summing up the first shows of their The Book Of Souls World Tour.

The band are currently circumnavigating the globe aboard Ed Force One, a 747 jumbo jet transporting band, gear and crew to concerts, piloted by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson.

The tour follows ‘Maiden’s 16th – and first double – studio album, The Book Of Souls, released last September.

Both album release and tour dates were delayed to allow Bruce Dickinson to undergo successful treatment for cancer of the tongue. Dickinson said recently: “A year ago I didn’t even know if I could sing – we’ve had an amazing turnaround in fortune, getting rid of that, and getting out to doing the tour. Pretty much the whole of the US is sold out. It’s amazing.”

Iron Maiden are currently on the South American leg of the tour, with thrash legends Anthrax playing in support. Further dates will follow in North America, Japan, China, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Europe, including a headline appearance at this year’s Download festival at Donington – the band’s only confirmed UK date.
