David Gilmour makes surprise appearance at Earl’s Court

David Gilmour

Pink Floyd vocalist, guitarist and songwriter David Gilmour made a surprise appearance at London’s iconic Earl’s Court venue this weekend.

The now legendary musician played a version of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” after making a guest appearance on lap steel guitar with headline act Bombay Bicycle Club.

Bombay… frontman Jamie MacColl told the crowd: “This man gave me my first guitar and he was one of the first people to play this venue. By my count he’s played here more than 27 times.”

According to Hammermith And Fulham Council Earl’s Court is to be demolished and redeveloped as “new villages and a high street.” The venue first opened in 1937.

My Ruin cancel Doom In June appearance, York UK show still on!

My Ruin BD

My Ruin have announced via their official Facebook page that they have had to cancel their appearance at the Las Vegas Doom In June festival.

Tairrie B Murphy posted the message confirming the news yesterday.

“Dear Friends, It is with a heavy heart we have to cancel our appearance at Doom in June Festival on Saturday June 7th,” the message reads. “Sadly, our good friend /co producer Joel Stooksbury who was planning to come to LA from Tennessee and sit in with us for our shows next weekend at the whisky a go-go on Friday, June 6th and in Vegas the following night, has dislocated his shoulder due to a freak accident.”

“Obviously we did not want to cancel the shows so with this last minute turn of events, please know that we have explored every possible option. That being said, we have asked another friend in Los Angeles, John Lousteau (who produced the new albums by both The Birds of Satan & Teenage Time Killers) to step in and replace Joel on the drums being that he has played shows with My Ruin in the past and is familiar with our songs. Unfortunately John is only able to do The Whisky show with us on the 6th because he has a previously booked gig on the 7th.”

“We send our love to Joel and wish him a speedy recovery and also want to thank John for filling in on such short notice, allowing us to keep our show at The Whisky next Friday night which we plan to rock with our special guests Crowned By Fire.”

Meanwhile, the band have also confirmed that their gig in York, UK on the 22nd August is going ahead despite any confusion.

“Although there has been some confusion today, we want to let you know that our show at Fibbers on Friday the 22nd August is still ON!” the band’s message reads.

“We know some of you were sent emails saying the show had been cancelled – See Tickets are obliged to say that if the client (in this case the “old” promoter cancels the show) – and that is what has happened here.”

“As we have stated in a previous posts, the original Promoter proved to be very unprofessional and the show was in jeopardy because of this attitude,” the post continues. “We therefore took the initiative to contact the venue and book with another Promoter (Tim from Mr H Presents) who instructed the old Promoter to transfer the advance sales direct to the venue’s See Tickets client account. Unfortunately, out of spite he has not done this which we are all finding out about today. Hence the refunds.”

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused… Thank you again for the continued rock love & support! xo Mrs M.”

And in case you missed it, Mick Murphy of My Ruin debuted his new GJ2 Triple M signature model guitar on Jimmy Kimmel Live this month, playing two songs with his bandmates from The Birds Of Satan on the LA based TV show.

You can watch the band’s performance of “Pieces Of the Puzzle” below.
